Ivan Sutherland was born on May 16, 1938. Sutherland earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and a doctorate in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received the 1988 A.M. Turing Award, the highest honor in computer science. Sutherland developed Sketchpad, allowing people to draw in real time onto a computer. He also created the first AR/VR head mounted display that was connected to a computer and not a display. He greatly furthered the development of computer graphics. I found it interesting that he is called the Father of Graphics.
