Kathrine Johnson was born on August, 26th, 1918 and died February, 24, 2020. She integrated to West Virginia graduate school as one of three black students. She was the first woman in the Flight Research Division to have received credit as an author of a research report. She also double checked the trajectory of the capsule John Glenn would be in, a job typically done by computers, but John Glenn wanted her to do it. “When asked to name her greatest contribution to space exploration, Johnson would talk about the calculations that helped synch Project Apollo’s Lunar Module with the lunar-orbiting Command and Service Module.” She inspired many other women to go into the Computer Programming and Mathematician fields. I found it interesting that she recieved the Medal of Freedom from Obama.
